Becoming Member of the IAFO
Dentists and other allied professionals are welcome to the join the Association. The IAFO offers four types of memberships, three of which are qualification and fee-based:
- Life Membership, which is open for registered dentists in India. A Life Member must have a minimum of graduate degree in dental surgery recognised by the Dental Council of India (DCI) and Registration in the DCI. A Life Member can participate in the IAFO Annual General Body Meetings (AGBMs), including Extraordinary General Body Meetings and has the right to vote on any issue or stand for Office Bearer’s election. - Affiliate Membership is open to foreign nationals who are qualified and registered dentists in their home country. Affiliate Members cannot contest or vote in the AGBM for the election of any Office Bearer but can attend and take part in the deliberations. The Affiliate Membership fee for dentists in South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries is ₹7,500/- and US$150/- for other countries. - Associate Membership, which is open to Indian nationals residing in India, who are not dentists, but have an interest/ experience in forensic odontology. An Associate Member is not entitled to contest or vote in the AGBM for the election of any office bearer. However, he/she is entitled to attend and take part in the deliberations. - Patron/Honorary Member may be chosen by the IAFO Executive Committee for his/her significant contribution to the Association and to the science of Forensic Odontology. He/she is not entitled to contest or vote in the AGBM for the election of Office Bearer. However, a Patron/Honorary member can attend and take part in the deliberations.
Procedure
- While applying for Life Membership, Affiliate Membership or Associate Membership, sponsorship by one IAFO member acquainted with the applicant is essential.

- Once you have downloaded the membership form (link provided above separately for Life Membership, Affiliate Membership and Associate Membership), please type in the necessary details in the MS Word file and email it to the Honorary Secretary as an MS Word file itself since this will allow copy-pasting your information from it on to the IAFO membership register. Additional documents, namely BDS Degree and State Dental Council Registration, must also be SCANNED and emailed to the Honorary Secretary.

- Once the transaction is made, please email the account/transaction number/name and date to the Honorary Secretary (along with the filled membership form, scanned BDS degree, and scanned State Dental Council registration, so that he can confirm membership and advise the Treasurer to issue a receipt of payment towards membership. Membership Benefits
Members of the IAFO are provided subsidised registration fee at IAFO and IOFOS conferences, and are updated with newsletters of the International Organisation of Forensic Odontostomatology (IOFOS), scientific research and other updates from time to time such as hands-on workshops/courses, job openings, etc. in forensic dentistry. Members are also eligible to receive a hard copy of the IAFO’s official publication, the Journal of Forensic Dental Sciences (upon request to the Journal Office), and IAFO research/travel grants to forensic odontology events.
